Telephone Befriender Volunteers

Befriender volunteers work alongside the Social Prescribers to support individuals to progress outcomes identified on their support plan. This is achieved through weekly telephone calls to the individual. As a Telephone Befriender you would be making telephone calls from your own home, so a confidential environment is required. The types of support you will provide will be determined by the needs of individuals but can include; help with household bills or budgeting; encouraging and enabling them to become more confident and supporting to reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation. A DBS check along with references will be required as you may be befriending vulnerable individuals who are experiencing mental health issues, have a long term health condition, are socially isolated or have a physical or learning difficulty.
