Staying independent and active in your local community
If you find it difficult to use public transport and taxis to access medical or social appointments such as hospitals, day centres, surgeries, hairdressers, opticians and shopping, then Dial 2 Drive can help.
Our friendly drivers are volunteers. They use their own cars and give up their time to support the local community. You will have the reassurance of a named, reliable driver (insured and DBS checked) who can safely and efficiently take you to your appointment and return you to your home.

There is an annual membership fee of £20.00 to help cover administration costs.
We charge you 70p per mile, which is measured from the driver’s home to yours, then on to where you want to go and back to the driver’s home. You will need to pay for any car parking fees.
Please note that this cost will be increasing to 80p per mile from 1st May.
We will always try to find a driver who lives closest to you to keep the costs as low as possible.
Volunteer drivers are only expected to wait up to an hour. If your appointment is much longer, you will need to book two separate drives (double journey).

Please give us as much notice as possible when booking a drive, and at least 2 working days before your appointment. We will do our best to accommodate your request, but it is based on our volunteer driver availability.
Last minute cancellations are costly, so please give us at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel your drive.
Yes! We are always on the lookout for more drivers to join our friendly team and help us support more people through the scheme. If you are qualified to drive, have your own reliable car, are sociable and can offer a few hours each week or month, we’d love to hear from you.
