Carers week - A chance for carers to be placed on the map

By Matthew McKenzie FRSA BEM - Author, poet, and carer activist.

I wanted to remind you about Carers Week 2024, which is coming up soon. As a poet, author, and carer activist, I have eagerly anticipated this awareness campaign all year. Many people across the country provide care to a close relative or friend without receiving the recognition they deserve.

This is an opportunity for all of us to raise awareness for carers. I appreciate Imago's efforts to support carers, but there is still much more to be done. I'm counting on many to help raise much-needed awareness for Carers Week. If you are a carer or health professional or have lived experience with caring, keep an eye out for events that Imago will host from June 10th to June 15th. There will be plenty of exciting and informative activities aimed at maximising the wellbeing of unpaid carers.

I will continue to write and promote carer events nationwide and do everything I can to raise awareness for carers. You can sign a pledge on the Carers Week website or even organise an event yourself. No effort is too small when it comes to raising awareness for carers.

Let's all work together to make a difference for carers.
