Carers Rights Day 2024

This year, Carers Rights Day is on Thursday 21st November, and the theme is recognising your rights.

Every day, 12,000 people become unpaid carers for a partner, family member or a friend – many of whom don’t see themselves as carers and are often unaware of their legal rights and what they’re entitled to in terms of support and benefits. This year’s theme is ‘recognising your rights’ and the aim is to help carers recognise and understand their rights, and to access the support available to them, whenever they need it.

We support carers in Kent, Medway, East Sussex, Lewisham, Bexley, Greenwich, Havering, the City of London and Southwark and we will be sharing details of events celebrating Carers Rights Day in different areas in the coming weeks on our website and social media channels. Carers UK has produced an online guide to caring ‘Looking after someone’ which provides a useful overview of everything you need to know if you are caring for family or friends, from your rights to practical tips and financial support options.
